I like Seth a lot but sometimes his ideas are not a reflection of the real world. There are some products that benefit from telling a brand story but 99% of products don’t need a story. When I buy a frozen pizza or cereal I don’t need a brand story, just give me a good product at a fair price. If marketers should want to change the world why do some brands who have violated consumer trust still grow and make money? Yes, some products solve my problems but most just meet my basic need as a consumer.
Later, during the post-war boom, other American companies (notably General Mills) developed this idea further, marketing cake mix on the principle of convenience, especially to housewives. When sales dropped heavily in the 1950s, marketers discovered that baking cakes, once a task at which housewives could exercise skill and creativity, had become dispiriting. This was a period in American ideological history when women, retired from the war-time labor force, were confined to the domestic sphere, while still exposed to the blossoming consumerism in the US. This inspired psychologist Ernest Dichter to find a solution to the cake mix problem in frosting. Since making the cake was so simple, housewives and other in-home cake makers could expend their creative energy on cake decorating inspired by, among other things, photographs in magazines of elaborately decorated cakes.
On the day of their May 6 nuptials in Devon, England, the British Olympic diver surprised Black with a five-tier, red, white and blue cake made by U.K. bakery Crumbs & Doilies. Sustainable marketing or green marketing is an extension of societal marketing.

FlavorPrint does for recipes what Netflix has done for movies; its algorithm distills each recipe into a unique flavor profile, which can be matched to a consumer’s taste-preference profile. FlavorPrint can then generate customized e-mails, shopping lists, and recipes optimized for tablets and mobile devices.

When you’re throwing a surprise vow renewal for your wife, you want to make sure she’s going to like everything, including the cake! Bill enlisted Houston’s Who Made the Cake to create a sugar showpiece for the June 2014 affair. Since Jen loves starfish, the cake had a nautical theme, including hand-painted chocolate fondant shells, starfish and coral. The flavor? We divided the survey respondents into two groups, overperformers and underperformers, on the basis of their companies’ three-year revenue growth relative to their competitors’. A firm using a sales orientation focuses primarily on the selling/promotion of the firm's existing products, rather than determining new or unmet consumer needs or desires. Consequently, this entails simply selling existing products, using promotion and direct sales techniques to attain the highest sales possible. The sales orientation "is typically practised with unsought goods."  One study found that industrial companies are more likely to hold a sales orientation than consumer goods companies. The approach may also suit scenarios in which a firm holds dead stock, or otherwise sells a product that is in high demand, with little likelihood of changes in consumer tastes diminishing demand.

To deliver a seamless experience, one informed by data and imbued with brand purpose, all employees in the company, from store clerks and phone center reps to IT specialists and the marketing team itself, must share a common vision.
Roses say romance, and that’s exactly what McCarthy and Wahlberg wanted the cake served at their August 31 wedding celebration near Chicago to convey. Covered with 12 dozen cascading red roses that started at the top and wound their way around, the six-tiered, white buttercream cake was a collaborative effort by the couple and baker Alain Roby of All Chocolate Kitchen. The cake was made with alternating layers of red velvet, vanilla custard creme brûlée and Roby’s famous devil’s food cake (a special request from the couple). And those amazing roses? They were made of sugar and edible!
